Casa Pescador – The Area
Caleta De Velez
Situated 30 minutes east of Malaga town and airport, the old fishing resort of Caleta de Velez is small but has everything you need. It is where the Spanish choose to holiday and is on the edge of the larger resort of Torre del Mar. Caleta is one of the last remaining traditional coastal resorts of the Costa del Sol and is virtually untouched by commercial tourism.
It is an excellent base from which to explore the Andalucian region. There is plenty to do in the area to cater for every taste.
Although a car is not necessary, as most things are accessible by foot, taxi or bus, we would highly recommend you hire a car and see the beautiful surrounding area, there are plenty of suggestions of places you can visit/see in the information book in the apartment. If you want to hire a car there are car hire firms at the airport and in Torre del Mar. There is plenty of parking space outside the apartment.
Amenities such as Bars, Restaurants, Supermarkets, Banks and Doctors are all within walking distance. Restaurants in the area are very varied and cater for every taste, from traditional Spanish to English menus, the seafood is particularly good.
Activities in the area include; swimming, scuba diving, water sports, golf, 2 min drive. Tennis, walking, fishing and sailing at the local Marina, horse-riding on the beach, cycling, go-karting, cinema (English films), water parks, whale and dolphin watching and shopping. In the mountains you can go mountain biking, do motor cycle tours of mountains, bird watching, painting, trekking and skiing (1 ¾ hours - Sierra Nevada) in the winter! These are just a selection, there is more information in the apartment.
From the apartment if you walk down to the sea you have the Marina on your left hand side and on your right a long promenade which leads right along to the end of Torre del Mar. Running parallel with the promenade is a street with shops, supermarkets, pharmacy and banks all within walking distance of the apartment. There is a market on Saturdays & Thursdays. There is a bus service into Malaga City centre approximately 30 mins. Just outside of Caleta is El Ingenio (10 mins). There is a water park, cinema, shopping centre and a very good hyper market (Eroski) selling everything.
Golfing
There are numerous golf courses for the enthusiast in the area, the nearest being Baviera Championship 18 hole Golf Club, Par 71, situated just 2 minutes away by car, it has a driving range, pro shop and Club house serving food. There are plenty of very good golf courses all within driving distance, but another golf course nearby (10 mins) is Anoreta, again it has all the facilites listed above including 11 water hazards!

Chiringuitos are beach bar/restaurants and are very good places to try traditional spanish food especially sea food normally served with a simple salad.
